These meat cutlets are very easy to make, eat and serve. They could be served hot or cold. Cutlets are served as an appetizer, as a side dish, or they make a great pita sandwich. They are perfect picnic and party food. Great with Tzatziki Sauce!
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef (ground chicken works nicely too)
- 1 lb potatoes
- 2 eggs
- 1 medium sized onion, grated and drained of excess water
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 tablespoon all purpose flour (for Gluten-free and Paleo style use rice flour)
- salt and black pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Directions:
1- Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add some salt, and cook until a fork easily goes through them. Peel and mash them in a large bowl.
3- Add ground beef, eggs, onion, flour, turmeric, salt, and pepper to the potatoes. Mix to incorporate spices.
4- Heat up cooking oil in a frying pan.
5- Take a small amount of the mixture and form round balls out of them and flatten them out in your hand then place the patties you have formed into the frying pan. Fry each patties over medium heat on both sides until golden brown.
6- Place the cooked ones in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with paper towels, and keep them warm in a 250 degree oven as you fry the next batch.
